Witches call it spells.
Religious people call it prayer.
Spiritualists call it manifestation.
Atheists call it the placebo effect.
Scientists call it quantum physics.
Everyone’s arguing over its name, but no one is denying its existence.

My Mother was a woman of great faith; her prayers moved mountains. For all of us, our culture deeply conditions us until we decided to seek more profound truths. In the months leading up to her abrupt death, we scrutinized the origins of the Bible and removed it from the “infallible” pedestal of idolatry. Oh, the irony!
I continued our research, spending years researching and getting more and more angry about the systems of religion. It felt like there was another pile of snakes under every stone. What took me years to discover has now been written! I’m so grateful when individuals take the time to research and produce such extraordinary works of art!
When I listened to Kristin Kobes Du Mez’s Jesus and John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation, I nodded in agreement and clutched my pearls. She went straight for the throat of the greed and manipulation within the Evangelical Movement, and I’m so glad she did! If you have any background in “American Christianity,” this is a must-read!
Magic appears in our lives when we are confident in ourselves and path in life. It isn’t easy to be confident when we aren’t challenging our beliefs and the old ways of thinking. I went down a lot of rabbit holes of different religions. I walked every path to its climax and only discovered myself. A much quicker route would be to read, Everything Is Fucked a Book About Hope by Mark Manson, where he dismantles religion as a whole and rebuilds hope.
The belief of God somehow enjoying my suffering were deeply rooted in my being. I felt like God hated me. Existential Kink by Carolyn Elliott, PhD, helped me release the feelings of needing suffering to feel acceptance.
When I was seeking the Goddess, she SHOWED UP! When God Was A Woman by Merlin Stone and The Great Cosmic Mother: Rediscovering the Religion of the Earth by Monica Sjoo and Barbara Mor, I was shook to my core. Questions I never even thought to ask.
My soul was so hungry for deep feminine wisdom that I started devouring books written by older women, and my soul was quenched. Women Who Run With Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés and all the other books she has written, Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, Urban Tantra by Barbara Carrellas, and All About Love by bell hooks; each book stirred my passion, reignited my love, and gave me great courage.
“The only thing we learn from history is that we never learn from history.” ~ Author Unknown
I was diving deep into metaphysics and magic and needed to understand more history. Sex Magicians by Michael William West opened my eyes to why people are scared of witches, magic, and the occult. People can be f’ing crazy. Real Magic by Dean Radin brought ideas together and built a bridge between science and magic.
In hindsight, it’s ridiculous to see how the Christian churches prey on hurting people, offering salvation and prayer as a solution for trauma, DV, and a lack of resources, BUT THEN they don’t teach you how to pray in a way that creates the magic that solves the problem of lack of resources, that allows you to get the help you need. ARGGGGG!
What is the point of magic, prayer, or spells if they don’t work?!?!
My Mother was so powerful in her faith because she believed. Intention is everything, and I’m so grateful for her example. You don’t have to do or have anything to have a clear intention. My most profound and powerful prayers were manifested with just a thought.
I didn’t own any crystals; I didn’t meditate… sometimes I was drunk or on copious amounts of drugs, and other times, I was so depressed I hardly got out of bed. Our “channel” doesn’t have to be clear, only your desire and commitment to your journey.
Because of my conditioning, it took me longer to become comfortable with learning to manifest without imminent threat. The more my old beliefs fell away, and new beliefs took form, the less I labored for money, and my heart expanded with love and gratitude.
The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield and the animated movie Soul helped me visualize energy exchanges in relationships. Identifying WHY we feel things is a huge deal! When we align our logic, feelings, and instincts, new beliefs are formed, and our lives shift FAST!
As I studied, I realized there are only three reasons people perform magic or pray: healing, desire, and protection. While there are thousands of ways to perform the ceremony, which are fantastic for building community, sharing celebrations, and… performing, the most profound magic is done in quiet spaces, alone, with a partner, or in a small, intimate group.
Magic requires three components: Belief, Action, and Surrender, sometimes known as “Be, Do, Have.” I think of them as Black, White, and Red Magic. Each element is required in a specific order: black, white, and red. Be. Do. Have.
I have hundreds of stories of finding money, being given pennies to thousands of dollars, RVs, cars, vacations, and just about anything you can imagine. When you attract, you ATTRACT! When you practice, you will learn how to attract intentionally and repel the bullshittery. It’s a different path for everyone, but it’s a journey worth taking!
